A taste of early autumn at Hitachi Seaside Park (ひたち海浜公園) in Ibaraki Prefecture. The crimson colored Kochia (broom) plants are in season and can be leisurely enjoyed, along with other beautiful flowers, as one strolls through the vast park. Play areas for children and a disc golf area for the young at heart, are also available.

How to get there :
1) There is a 10:30am  highway bus from Tokyo station (Ibaraki Kotsu Bus). However, they don’t take reservations and can only accommodate the first 50 people.  Same for the bus ride back to Tokyo. There are 2 buses at different times available in the afternoon.
 2) The JR Joban Line, from Shinagawa, Tokyo or Ueno stations, goes to Katsuta Station where you can get a public bus to the park (20 minutes, ) or a taxi.  It takes 85 minutes from Shinagawa to Katsuta Station and costs about ¥4600 one way.
3) Drive out there on the Joban Jidosha-do.
